The Thai House is a favourite choice
when it comes to Pre- and Post Event activities or spouse
programmes. The rural country-side provides a refreshing
setting for its Thai cooking classes.
The classes are held in an outdoor classroom
in the orchard under the shade of mango, banana, papaya
and coconut trees. Nature's kitchen garden with home-grown
herbs and spices just a stroll away provide freshly-picked
ingredients used in the recipes. The lessons, which
consist of brief lectures, the preparation of ingredients,
hands-on cooking demonstrations and time for discussion,
are conducted in an open air kitchen. An excursion to
the traditional open-air market is also part of the
total learning experience.

| A TASTE OF
HOME-COOKED THAI DELICACIES |
For those with little time, a day-trip
river cruise with a lunch stop at The Thai House offers
a personal experience of life among the locals in a
setting that makes you feel very much at home. As one
leaves the city sky-line behind, the picturesque river
landscape holds one's attention for hours on end. The
change of pace is revitalising.
Visitors to The Thai House are welcomed
into the Thai home as a guest rather than as a tourist
and the home-cooked meal featuring a selection of famous
Thai dishes and desserts is an important aspect of the
centuries-old tradition of Thai hospitality. The indoor
dining hall seats 30 to 50 persons, banquet-style.
The Thai House is a traditional Thai
house built with a golden teakwood structure in an architectural
style that was popular around the Ayutthaya region in
central Thailand some 150 years ago. Encircled by 4.8
acres of lush gardens, orchards and plantations, the
beauty and tranquility of this natural landscape is
spell-binding. All around, the adjacent structures are
no higher than the coconut palms!

This custom-designed traditional Thai-style
house was built in 1990 by 25 craftsmen who worked on
the premises for a year. Ornate traditional carvings
which adorn the walls, stairs and rooftops reflect the
exquisite traditional Thai craftsmanship for which Thai
artisans are known. Passed down from generation to generation,
these ancient skills have been carefully preserved.
The first floor lay-out consists
of three separate houses symmetrically linked together
consistent with the traditional practice of keeping
extended families living and working together in the
same compound creating a sense of belonging to the family.

The wing-shaped roof structure,
characteristic of the architectural style of Thai
temples, is a tradition that has been consistently
adopted throughout the centuries.
